2025 has been a tremendously successful one for Wigton Motor Club. Wigton promotes a wide variety of events throughout the year, both competitive and social, with a strong interest in classic car events.

Based in the north of the Lake District, the Club has again increased its membership, reaching 1,123 at the renewal date.Highlights included the Cumbria Classic & Motorsport Show which attracted some 5,000 people with 800 cars on display including Malcolm Wilson’s first rally car.

There was a full programme of competitive events with the White Heather and Solway Targa and Historic Rallies being well supported, plus monthly autotests or autosolos. There were five, full day classic car tours with a popular addition being the John Peel Meander for pre-1950 cars.

When prices are rising generally we  have  managed to keep costs down by keeping our membership fee and entry to our car show the same as in previous years.

The Club’s headquarters, the Motor House, has proved to be a huge success with storage for the Club’s equipment and caravan, a committee room and a multi-use space for the very popular monthly Cars & Coffee events. The Motor House was built by members and became fully operational in 2022.

At the Cars & Coffee events we have autojumble tables where members donate surplus parts and books which can then be bought by other members. We also have a library of over 200 car manuals for members use. The Club has also purchased a van which is used to take equipment to events.

This year the Club ran a karting session at the Rowrah kart track for members aged under 17, several of whom then started competing in other events.

Each year the Club supports two local charities; this year it was Every Life Matters and Hospice at Hose North Lakes. Each received £1000. We also support other charities with free stands at the Cumbria Classic Car Show.
