Wigton Motor Club’s popular Cumbria Classic and Motorsport Show returns to Dalemain near Penrith on Sunday 17 August, promising a packed day for car enthusiasts and families alike.
The show has grown steadily since its beginnings in 1989, now attracting such demand that the 800-car entry was full by June. Each year, the organising team from Wigton Motor Club delivers a varied, welcoming event that celebrates the region’s passion for all things motoring.

This year’s show is set to be extra special, with guest of honour Malcolm Wilson OBE reunited with his first rally car, a Ford Escort RS, beautifully restored by Neil Kirkham. There will also be one of M-Sport’s current rally cars on display, giving visitors a unique chance to see the progression from past to present.
Featured classes in the arena this year focus on rally cars and Italian cars, both certain to attract plenty of attention. More than 35 car clubs will be exhibiting, joined by a similar number of trade stands, including renowned rally journalist John Fife with his books on the history of rallying in Scotland.
Visitors can expect a full range of food options, trade and craft stands, and activities for all ages. Motorsport UK’s StreetCar initiative will be present, offering demonstration autotests and even the chance for those displaying cars to have a go themselves. The ever-popular children’s treasure hunt returns, and well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Wigton Motor Club are supporting two charities this year: Hospice at Home, Carlisle, and Every Life Matters. For those inspired to get more involved, the club are offering an exclusive membership deal – anyone joining at the show will have their membership extended until December 2026. Club clothing and models will also be available to buy.
The Cumbria Classic and Motorsport Show runs from 11am to 4pm at Dalemain (postcode CA11 0HB, approach via the A592). Admission is £20 for adults, with free entry for children and dogs. Whether you’re a club member, a classic car owner, or simply looking for a great day out, Dalemain promises another memorable show, thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of Wigton Motor Club and its volunteers.
